Why You Should Exfoliate Your Skin

Many people have said they do not exfoliate their skin because it takes too much time out of their busy schedules. However, there are a wide range of benefits to exfoliating the skin. Here, are some of the reasons you should take a couple of minutes out of your time once or twice a week to exfoliate.

Remove Dead Skin Cells

The human body is made up of millions and millions of skin cells. These cells die and shed constantly rebuilding new ones. These dead cells can cause your complexion to dull and build up in your pores. Exfoliating your skin ensures that you will remove dead skin cells quickly and effectively. Just remember you should not exfoliate more than twice a week: more than that will remove healthy cells unnecessarily.

Reduce the Appearance of Scars and Marks

It’s fair to say that no one is a fan of the scars and marks on their skin. As hard as it is to look at them, it can be harder to get rid of them without proper care. Regular exfoliation of the skin will reduce the appearance of your scars and marks. Also, it will prevent the marks from returning.

Prevent Ingrown Hairs

In most cases, ingrown hairs can be very irritable to the skin. As mentioned before, exfoliating removes dead skin cells to emerge new skin cells. Because of the layer of dead skin cells, ingrown hairs are more than likely to show up on your skin after improperly removing unwanted hair. If you exfoliate your skin before the hair removal it will prep your skin and lessen the chance of pesky ingrown hairs.
