Tips to Fix Frizz and Eliminate Split Ends

Can never seem to tame your frizzy lion’s mane? Can’t understand why your ends always split? Check out some of these tips and tricks to see what you may be doing wrong and how to improve your hair.

How to: Tame Frizz

Frizz is one of the leading contributors to a bad hair day. Striking on very humid or rainy days, frizzy hair tends to lose moisture and definition.

Don’t Over Shampoo

While everyone enjoys a clean head of hair, shampooing too often dries out natural healthy oils from the scalp and can lead to frizzy hair. Instead of using just shampoo, alternate throughout the week with  just conditioner and dry shampoo as well.

Avoid Towel Drying

After “washing” your hair, you will probably reach for a towel to dry it. But towels can damage and break your textured, wet hair. Use an old t-shirt to dry your hair instead: the fabric will be more gentle on your hair and squash any frizz possibility.

Brush Hair Carefully

There is a misconception that in order to get rid of frizzy hair you can simply brush it away. However, it’s actually the opposite: too much brushing can add to the frizz level. So try to avoid brushing your hair when it is damp.

Use Leave-In Conditioner

Using a conditioner on your hair that needs to be rinsed out will do absolutely nothing for split ends because they are washed off and can’t condition throughout the day. Leave-in conditioner, on the other hand, adds an extra layer of protection on your hair strands as you style and wear it throughout the day.

Be Gentle When Brushing

Whenever you are combing through your hair, gentleness is key! When brushing wet hair use a wide-tooth comb to detangle to safety ensure that all of the tangles are out. This will prevent any breakage that can further split hair.
