Creative Coffee Swaps

While a cup of coffee is both delicious and helpful for an energy boost, it is not healthy to ingest large amounts of caffeine on a daily basis. In fact, drinking too much coffee can dehydrate you, increase your blood pressure, and stain your teeth. Try limiting your day-to-day coffee intake with these helpful tips.

Choose a healthier option over coffee in the morning.

Start your morning with a piece of fruit instead of a cup of coffee. Fruits are filled with vitamins and nutrients that can help give your system a boost in the morning. If you’d prefer to supplement with a liquid, give tea a try. Caffeinated teas such as green tea, black tea, and oolong tea can give your body the energy it’s looking for.

Increase your daily water intake.

Drinking a lot of water on a daily basis can actually increase your energy and alertness. Make sure to drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated and your mind sharp. If you really want to jumpstart your system in the morning drink a glass of ice cold water to shock your system and wake you up.

Use coconut water as a substitute.

Coconut water a great coffee swap because of its potassium content. Potassium helps your entire body (nervous systems and all) function properly. Keep your body awake, alert, and in tip-top shape by drinking a chilled coconut water in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
