3 Skincare Brands to Try if You Have Acne

I’m sure that everyone can identify with the struggle of not having enough money to spend $25 or so on a four ounce bottle of acne cleanser from a department store at the mall, right? For your acne problems you usually just run to your local drugstore and pick up the reasonably priced acne cleansers, exfoliators, and moisturizers that brands like Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, and St. Ives have to offer. However, if you’ve tried almost everything these drugstores lines have to offer and the new products they’ve released aren’t appealing to you maybe you’re thinking of considering higher-end skincare products.

But where do you look first? With all the options in department and cosmetic stores it can be overwhelming to know which brands to try and which products work best for acne-prone skin. Test out one or all of these brands and products until you find the best match for your skin.

1. Lush

Lush is a skincare brand that caters to the face, body, and hair and its mission is creating and selling products infused with healthy and organic ingredients in order to produce the best results for their clients. This brand is a vegan’s dream, but it’s also great for anyone because you can pronounce all the ingredients that you are putting on your skin.

Their skincare line is fairly extensive and they have a plethora of products that cater to any individual’s needs whether it be dry or oily skin, or skin problems like acne, rosacea or eczema. All the products are handmade with care and though considered a high-end brand, they have relatively affordable prices! Their products range from as a low as $1.95 to over $80, depending on what your are purchasing. But don’t let the price deter you from trying out one of their mid-range priced products such as a mask or a cleanser for about $20. I know, I know, it’s more than what you usually spend, but don’t knock it until you try it.

Specifically to fight acne, I suggest you invest in a couple of the $1.95 Tea Tree steam tablets. These tablets are great for opening and cleaning out pores, plus you’ll feel like you’re in a spa and your skin will be rejuvenated.

2. Murad

Murad is a widely popular department store skincare brand that you will definitely find somewhere in your mall. If you’ve searched “skincare routine” on YouTube, there’s a very good chance that many top YouTubers have at least one Murad product in their skincare routine and this makes sense because Murad products are awesome!

The founder, Howard Murad, had a vision in creating a skincare line to help maintain the youthfulness and wellness of people’s skin. As you can imagine, there are a ton of products that cater to those with acne-prone skin.

I recommend trying out the Essential-C Cleanser. It smells slightly orange-y, doesn’t overly sud up, and really cleans out your pores and washes your face of impurities. Even though it’s $38 you only need a small amount of it so it will last for a long time. First time buyers also get a lot of discounts such as 20% off of your first purchase and they release new deals through subscriptions almost daily!

3. Michael Todd Organics

Michael Todd Organics is similar to Lush in that they also brand themselves as a skincare line using only natural ingredients for their products. Though they advocate that science and nature do mix together to create great products, they are strict on what their products don’t include–so there are no parabens, mineral oils, artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, and they don’t test on animals.

This brand is based online only, which is great because you don’t have to take a trip to the store to have access to great skincare products. Their website even has a section where you can buy a whole regimen based on your skin concern such as blemished skin, fine lines/wrinkles, and dull/uneven skin tone.

Their products are very popular, most of them getting raving reviews from people who swear that Michael Todd products are the reason that they now have clear skin.

Branching out and buying high-end skincare doesn’t have to be too scary or expensive–plus, if they work for you, you’ll be on the road to clearer skin in no time!
